Fickett was hired by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to provide Bridge Inspection Services for over 550 bridges owned and maintained by Cities, Counties, and other Local Public Agencies (LPAs). Services include the inspection, evaluation and assessment of LPAs’ “in service” bridges for the purposes of reporting to the National Bridge Inventory (“NBI”).
These Routine, Fracture Critical, and Fatigue Prone inspections include performing NBI and Element Level Inspections while utilizing various access techniques, including under bridge inspection trucks (UBIT) and rope access to perform hands-on inspections of all fracture critical members and other problematic details. Various bridge types are inspected under this contract, including girders, boxes, slabs, deck trusses, through trusses, and movable through trusses. Inspections involve several different material types, including steel, concrete, and timber. Deliverables include Routine Element Level Data and NBI Ratings, In-depth, Fracture Critical, Fatigue Prone, Timber Logs – including resistograph borings, and Cross-channel Profile Reports.
