Regional Manager

We are looking for an energetic, outgoing Professional Engineer with 15+ years of experience with the passion to support and grow our efforts in Florida and surrounding States.

Who We Are:

Fickett Structural Solutions is a structural engineering, inspection and testing company headquartered in Madison, WI, with offices in Milwaukee, WI, Olympia, WA, and Minneapolis, MN. We have remote employees in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Florida that support our four offices. We work nationally for Federal, State, and Local Agencies in addition to architects, engineers, and contractors. We provide structural inspections and related engineering services for bridges, culverts, and highway ancillary structures, as well as locks and dams. We are fortunate to have long-standing partnerships across the country with several public and private clients. We are looking to grow our reach and provide our expertise to targeted geographical locations throughout the country. Who You Are:

You have the ambition and drive to grow our services in Florida and surrounding states through proven relationships and experience. You are confident and competent in bridge inspections, load ratings, and structural related inspection activities. You have marketed and managed bridge inspection and/or load rating contracts in the past within your geographical area. You want to oversee day-to-day activities of staff in an office in your geographical area in order to ensure organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.

Your primary tasks will include developing bridge inspection and load rating opportunities, preparing proposals, and handling client interactions. However, you are also someone who is accustomed to doing what it takes to get a job done; potentially working long days, working at heights, around traffic, and getting dirty. You will produce/review inspection reports for accuracy and make appropriate repair recommendations for client submittal. You are equally adept at performing load rating calculations and repair designs. You are a person with leadership and mentoring skills who will enjoy working for a growing company that will value your experience.

What You Will Do:

Your primary focus will be developing a marketing strategy for your geographical area, implementing this marketing strategy, developing relationships with personnel from various agencies, procuring bridge inspection and load rating contracts, as well as establishing and maintaining an office with staff of direct reports. Other activities will include:

  • Responsible for developing and implementing office policies by setting up procedures and standards to guide the operation of the office
  • Partner with HR and the rest of the Management Team to maintain office policies as necessary
  • Responsible for developing standards and promoting activities that enhance operational procedures
  • Ensure office efficiency is maintained by carrying out planning and execution of equipment procurement, layouts, and office systems
  • Manage relationships with vendors and service providers
  • Allocate tasks and assignments to subordinates and monitor office staff performance
  • Participate in Strategic Planning Meetings
  • Responsible for recruiting Interns, Staff Engineers, and Project Engineers for the office
  • Provide orientation and training to new employees
  • Ensure top performance of office staff by providing them adequate mentoring and guidance
  • Allocate available resources to enable successful task performance
  • Manage internal staff relations
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and pleasant work environment
  • Other responsibilities, as required

Qualifications:

As a Regional Manager, you will have earned a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college and will have obtained your Professional Engineers license. You will bring at least 15 years of experience in bridge inspection, load rating, and design related experience. You will have working knowledge of State agency practices within your geographical area, current and proposed RFP/RFIs, and have worked on and managed various bridge inspection and load rating contracts.

Ideally, you will have experience with AASHTO’s BrM and various State-Specific DOT bridge inspection data input programs. You will have a working knowledge of drafting programs, whether it be MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Revit. You are proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, etc. You have experience with load rating and design software such AASHTOWare BrR, GTStrudl, BRASS, Mathcad, or similar. You have experience with DOT specific analysis software.

You are comfortable with working at heights, utilizing lifts, UBITs, ladders and scaffolding. You have the ability to walk around bridge and construction sites, around traffic, and on uneven terrain. You are able to travel for out-of-town for field visits, inspection activities, and marketing efforts, which will require consecutive overnight stays. You have the willingness to attend company provided trainings and conferences to promote our company and culture.
